INSTALLATION

Q. Is the WC5 difficult to install?

A. No. You will get the entire chimney system along with easy direction of how to install the various parts with the purchase. If you have any questions regarding the installation, you can always call GII’s tech support: 1-866-ECOJOHN  

Q. Can the vent pipe go out through the wall?

A. Yes. By adding a 90 degree vent piece, it is possible to route the vent out through the side of the house as well as going straight up through the roof (which is recommended).

OPERATION

Q. How is WC5 different from Sr?

A. The Sr is a waterless toilet; whereas the WC5 is an incinerator unit that burns black water from a holding tank. A low-flush water toilet is required with the WC5.

Q. How does the incineration process work?

A. The waste tank is equipped with sensors that signal the WC5 incinerator to portion in black water into the incinerator. It will keep portion in black water every 7-8 minutes until the black water in the waste tank is gone.  

Q. Can the toilet be used during its incineration process?

A. Yes. Since there is a waste holding tank between the toilet and the incinerator, the toilet can be used during incineration as long as the waste tank is not full. If the tank gets full, it will give a signal that the toilet shouldn’t be used until the level in the tank is lower.  

Q. How long will the WC5 incinerate?

A. The WC5 will keep incinerating as long as there is black water in the tank.

Q. Is it possible to turn on and off the WC5 manually?

A. Yes. The WC5 is equipped with a display panel that can be used to switch mode of the incinerator. For example, if you don’t want to incinerate even though there is waste in the tank, simply switch mode on the display panel to “Off” mode. When you wish it to start up again, simply switch it back to “On” mode.  

Q. Does the WC5 have to be placed indoors?

A. Yes. The WC5 incinerator and the waste tank must be placed inside a weatherproof building/structure.  

Q. Does it operate in colder climate?

A. It operates down to 41 Fahrenheit and it is imperative that the WC5 is placed inside a weatherproof building/structure.  

Q. Is there any unpleasant odor?

A. No. The WC5's unique design eliminates septic odor.

Q. Is it safe?

A. Yes. Several testing agencies have tested this product immensely to ensure a completely safe product. The toilet is equipped with several safety devices to ensure a completely safe product.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Q. How often do I need to clean out the ashes?

A. The WC5r is extremely efficient and requires very low maintenance. On average usage (in a 3-4 people household), the chamber needs to be cleaned out 1-2 times every six months  

Q. Is it difficult to emptying the ashes?

A. Not at all. It takes about 10 minutes to clean the burn chamber. Easy instructions of how to empty it come with the purchase.

TECHNICAL

Q. What is the capacity?

A. The WC5 should not burn more than 12 hours per day, which equals to approximately 15 gallons per day.

Q. How much propane is being used?

A. 0.246 ounce (7 grams) of propane per minute it burns.

Q. How much electricity is being consumed?

A. Very little. It only needs electricity to ignite the burner (1.5 amps), and to run the waste pumps (3 amps).  

Q. What are the power requirements?

A. It can be powered by either 12V DC or 110V AC. Please, specify before purchase.
