The Basic toilet is easy to keep clean. Clean the surface area with a damp towel. Use mild cleaning detergent or non-abrasive detergent. The toilet bowl is simple to disconnect if cleaning is necessary.
Changing the Waste Box
When it is time for emptying the waste box, the top lid of the toilet needs to be removed. Then simple sawdust or other soil may be added to the box (speeds up the composting process). Close the box with the lid that comes with the purchase. Place the box in an appropriate location in the garden. Check with your local authorities if you are unsure of any restrictions in your area. After approximately 6 months, the content in the box can be used as a great fertilizer in a garden.
How to change the Waste Box:
- Push the connector pipe down from the vent system. The toilet is now disconnected from the vent and can be moved
- Take out the toilet bowl
- Take off the top lid of toilet and disconnect the liquid hose
- Attach lid for the waste box (comes with the toilet) and remove the box
It is also possible to only take out the waste bag and add to composting pile
- Place the box in the ground or add it to a composting pile (check with your City or County for regulations)
- Fold a new waste box
- If you prefer, add a little saw dust into the waste box
- Connect the waste box and the waste bag to the toilet
- Tighten the liquid waste hose
- Reassemble the toilet lid and the bowl
- Reconnect the connector pipe with vent system
- Connect the liquid hose with the domestic wastewater system, a drain pit, or a container
- Check that the fan is working properly and that the liquid waste hose is correctly tightened.
Emptying the Liquid Waste Container
In order to use the liquid waste as a fertilizer, 8 parts of water should be mixed with 1 part of liquid waste.
